WHAT WOULD NANCY DO? is the story of childhood friends Maeve Haile and Kate Hanson, who are now in their fifties. As young girls they shared a love for the Nancy Drew mystery books often looking for mysteries of their own to solve. When a woman in their small town is killed they take on the case asking "what would Nancy do?" Kate as a therapist and Maeve a stay-at-home mother and volunteer at the library, they pull in all their resources and friends to help them solve the case. They learn they can rely on each other in ways their friendship has never been tested before as they race to find the killer before he strikes again. It is a novel filled with intrigue, humor, love and an interesting set of characters that tell how life can lead you down interesting paths and sometimes starts at fifty.
What Would Nancy Do? A Maeve and Kate Cozy Mystery Book 1 edition by Maureen Mullis Mystery Thriller Suspense eBooks
The numerous grammatical errors in this book drove me nuts, especially the incorrect usage of me and I. If you are going to write a book, you need to know basic grammar rules. The lovey-dovey stuff was a bit much after a while. Come on, Maeve and Bear were middle aged, had been married 20+ years, with two teenage sons and acted as if they were newlyweds. That being said, the book was a fun read. There were so many twists and turns, I couldn't decide who the culprit was; it kept me guessing almost to the end. When the sheriff decided the murder was a drive-by shooting, Maeve and Kate were determined to find the real killer. They had been friends since they were 9 years old and they had a great time sleuthing, just like their childhood idol, Nancy Drew. Even when they were in danger, they managed to giggle together like two teenagers.
If you can get past the bad editing, it is a fun mystery.

What Would Nancy Do? A Maeve and Kate Cozy Mystery Book 1 edition by Maureen Mullis Mystery Thriller Suspense eBooks Reviews
Oh my goodness, what a beginning!!! I thought I wasn't reading right, and then I realised yes, that's exactly what it is. I was scared to move beyond page one because of all the drama and tension.
Maeve Haile is your normal woman, happily married to Spenser with two teenage sons. As a library assistant, Maeve loves her job. She's into mysteries big time, so when she sees her neighbour with a woman other his wife, her curiosity is peeked and she feels compelled to investigate who the woman is. The problem is, no one at the library seems to have seen her.
I loved the mystery in this one and the writing is superb. Maureen Mullis is slowly morphing into one of my favourite authors because she knows how to tell a tale and keep up the suspense. The writing's is fantastic, the voice drew me in straight away. If you haven't read this one, go on and download the sample chapters and you'll see what I'm talking about. This is a fabulous, edge-of-your-seat book I thoroughly enjoyed, and I'm sure you will too.
The book was a cute idea with grown women still wanting to be like the Nancy Drew who solved mysteries back in the day, but I don't know that I would read any others by the author.
Quick easy read but fraught with typos that were terribly distracting. Reminded me of old high school mystery series books
I honestly was prepared not to like this book, but then chapter one's ending took me so completely by surprise that I gasped out-loud and immediately delved into Chapter 2! Maureen Mullis has the potential to become a great writer. The book is well-written, fast-paced, and exciting. There are so many of us Nancy Drew fans that dream of being put in a situation like Nancy Drew. We refuse to grow up or see Nancy Drew as anything but spectacular. Ms. Mullis captures this fantasy. Seriously, leave out Nancy Drew and you still have a great novel. Yes, it could use a good editor but the book is well-written. There isn't a writer out there who doesn't need an editor but editor's come with a huge price. A lot of the mistakes are due to computers and how fast we type and correct. We just don't see mistakes like we did when we used a typewriter. Ms. Mullis probably never used one, now that I think about it. Typewriters were on their way out when I was in college. I find no fault in the overall editing of this book. Basically, it is very well written. I enjoyed it so much that I have purchased her second book, In the Company of Women. I have a feeling because Ms Mullis is so clever in expressing personalities that this book is going to be very satisfying. Very good job, Maureen Mullis. I hope an editor reads this and snatches you up. You deserve it.

I loved the old Nancy Drew mysteries as a child. I have quite a collection of them. So, when I saw that this was a mystery about two older women who also loved Nancy Drew and tried their own hands at sleuthing, I thought it would be a lot of fun. It was fun - but Maureen Mullis is a novice writer and needs a serious editor! There were countless grammatical errors and problems with the text that might not bother some, but drove me nuts. Still, the story was right out of Carolyn Keene's world and it was enjoyable. I think with some experience Ms. Mullis could become an excellent writer. In the meantime, this book is probably best for those who are already fans of the Nancy Drew genre.
I ways a Nancy Drew fan. Even as an adult, I would purchase the Nancy Drew PC games. So I thought I would give this book a try. I liked it but felt there was something missing and I can't put my finger on it. Maybe a little bit more of maturity in the story line??
However, I would read the other books in this series. It is easy reading and not any complicated espionage or sex scenes.
This book features two likeable sleuths who try to solve a mystery in the manner of their childhood heroine, Nancy Drew. This is a fun, cozy read which contains no offensive language or graphic sex. The plot moves along quickly and the characters are well-developed and believable.
Unfortunately, the book contains many typos, grammatical errors, wrong words and some serious formatting issues that may distract some readers. They did me. It's almost as though no one read through the book before pushing the send button. It's a shame because the book deserves a good editor. I would try another book in this series with my fingers crossed in hopes of better editing.
The numerous grammatical errors in this book drove me nuts, especially the incorrect usage of me and I. If you are going to write a book, you need to know basic grammar rules.
