Dani C., and her two daughters, Silver and Mia, are trying to reinvent their lives after her ex-husband/ dad Tommy, was killed after a botched bank robber. Dr. Morales, Haven Point’s vet and Ruben’s dad, hired Dani to intern in his practice, in hope that she will take over his practice. Dani, skeptical of law enforcement and foster care system she was forced to grow up in after her mother’s demise, feels an wary attraction to Ruben and is in awe by his handling of her kids, especially adorable Mia and suspicious, labile, teenage Silver. When Silver is falsely accused of stealing and suspended from school, he, Ruben, finds the true culprits and shows Dani and Silver that he is one of the ‘good’ cops. Of course the inevitable HEA ending culminates in a Christmas wedding allowing the four to become one.

Loved the majority of characters, especially Ruben’s, Silver’s and Mia’s, however Dani’s vacillating feeling towards Ruben and her unfair treatment of him towards the end was immature and revealed her lack of trust issues. The theme of growing past one’s youthful mistakes and forgiving oneself is the cornerstone of this entertaining novel. Dr. and Mrs. Morales were portrayed as supportive parents, doting grandparents, and involved, responsible, caring citizens. Yet I am left to wonder, why Ruben and his siblings did not go into the Vet business like good ole Dad?

This was a favorite because Ruben got his story told. Who couldn't love those girls and Mia reminded me of a favorite nieces little one. The story has so many truths in it. I loved how the author brings it all together. Life isn't easy and families sometimes suffer for the sins of family and there are always those who will be too quick to jump to conclusions and who see the worst in others. Wish that wasn't so but it's a fact of life. The ending was so satisfactory!!
As frustrated as I sometimes felt at Dani's repeated refusal to let go of the misery caused by her former and late husband, at her refusal to see what a wonderful life she could have with the man next door, which would be obvious to most people, I still utterly adored this novel and could barely put it down. As was the case with the other novels I've read by RaeAnne Thayne, this one was filled with enjoyable characters, other than the usually irritating Silver and her grumpy personna.

Still, I did truly love this book and can't wait for the next one by RaeAnne Thayne.
I didn’t dislike this book but Dani felt unworthy for too long. It got tedious. I loved her daughters and I felt Rueben was a nice guy but almost too good. It was a nice Christmas read but I like a little more action or suspense in my books.
Like all of her other books this one draws you in the moment you start reading it. I found it to be intriguing and exciting to see how love overcomes during the holiday season. The book also showed consequences for bad behavior and the bond of friendship. Can't wait for the next HAven Point book. Thanks for a great story for the holidays.
Loved this book. It seems that everyone is running from something in life. Dani, a single mom and veterinarian intern, is running from her past and running from her present in what she perceives are other people’s opinions. Silver, Dani’s 13 year old purple haired daughter, is running from change in a new town, school, and possibly new “friendships”. Ruben, the big hearted police officer, is the only one who sees that running robs everybody of freedom of living life to the fullest. Through the innocents of Dani’s youngest daughter Mia and her ability to trust, and Ruben’s patience, encouragement, and love,...this family embraces their strengths.
The Haven Point book series always has characters I can relate to and they have stories that are not particularly remarkable and I mean that in a good way. The characters aren’t mega rich or superstars, they are regular small town people you’d like to know in real life.

That’s what makes Raeanne Thayne’s books so enjoyable - you feel like you know these people, or that you’d like to know them. They have issues that make sense, they don’t have stupid plot lines where some silly misunderstanding separates the couple only for them to get back together just in time for the final pages.

When you finish one of this author’s books, you want to find another to read, so you’ll get the same feeling again, and when you do get another book, you love that one too. Not many authors are consistently this good!
I always look forward to the next book by RaeAnne Thayne. Season of Wonder is a heartwarming love story. Dani Capelli has been knocked down all her life. She has made many bad choices and has moved to Haven Point with her two girls to start over and make a new life for them. She has built a deep wall around heart and is determined not to let anyone in. She feels that because of her past no one would want her anyway.

Her next door neighbor is Deputy Sheriff Ruben Morales . He thought that by now he would be married and have children but he hasn't met the right one. Then he meets Dani and her two little girls and they worm their way into his heart. Dani fights this with all her might. I cannot say more without spoilers. Once I started this book I simply could not put it down. It will find it's way into your heart. Following Dani and Ruben on their road to a happily ever after is a road you won't soon forget.
